Robyn Bresnahan, host of CBC Radio’s Ottawa Morning, interviewed Denis Blondin, a post- doctoral fellow in thermal physiology at the University of Ottawa the capital city Canada on January 7,2015. This interview is available on CBC which tells the viewers WHAT IS BROWN FAT and how is it useful in winter. This interview and picture is shared with the courtsey of CBC.
Cold helps us to expend more calories (about 5 times) than other weathers thus leading to weight loss. This is due to the presence of BROWN FAT in all the mammals including humans. Brown fat produces heat and helps to fight many chronic diseases. Brown fat is better than the notorious white fat what leads to obesity and diabetes. Brown fat produces heat like a furnace says Blondin. So instead cursing the cold weather embrace it.
