Talk therapy cures Depression
Abstract: In this post types of depression and ways to control are discussed
Talk therapy, or psychotherapy, can help treat depression, it has been claimed by many professionals at various times. This is a type of therapy which trains us to  learn about depression and helps us to manage depression  symptoms. Larry Christensen, a Professor of Psychology at the university of Alabama says talk therapy trains us to handle the depression and it is very effective over a period of time.
Talk therapy is of many types and which one is best for an individual is an important question. Talk therapy can be with any individual old,or young;male or female but it is quite common with the senior citizens. The most important reason for depression in this class of individuals is the LONELINESS. In this period of age  if one of the life partner loses wife or husband it is even more torturing. In today’s cyberage when everybody is very busy and we hear every other person saying” Who has the time?” No body has the time to talk to each other and listen to him.

  • Psychiatrists. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who treats mental illnesses. While some psychiatrists only see patients to prescribe medication, others also provide talk therapy. In most states, psychiatrists are the only mental health professionals who can prescribe medication.
  • Psychologists. A psychologist can help you learn how to manage your depression and teach you ways to cope.
  • Social workers, counselors, or therapists. These mental health professionals can also help you learn to manage depression and teach you coping skills.

You may not feel better right away from talk therapy, but over time, you should start to notice some improvement. You might notice that relationships are getting easier or that your overall mood has improved. Or you might feel better able to understand your feelings or actions.

The two most commonly types of  depression are cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and interpersonal therapy. CBT focuses the fact how negative thoughts  affect our mood. The therapist helps you learn how to make positive changes in your thoughts and behaviors. Interpersonal therapy focuses on how you relate to others and helps you make positive changes in your personal relationships. Both types of therapy can be effective in treating depression. So we consult a different specialist for different type of therapy
Mental health specialists can be put into mainly three classes who can offer talk therapy:
While making selection for a therapist we should consider one thing. We should  always look for someone whom you are comfortable talking to and you can talk freely. Your comfort level with the therapist is much more important than what kind of degree that person has. Therapy is generally much more successful if you like your therapist and have a good relationship with that person.
Like any other disease DEPRESSION CANNOT  BE TREATED OVERNIGHT.
We should  tell the  therapist about depression and what led you to seek help. It may be helpful to think about what you’d like to get out of the therapy. Is it  improving  personal relationships is your motive or  you are trying to set goals for yourself and make changes in your lifestyle.  It is helpful to be as honest as you can with your therapist about your depression and your goals for therapy.
After one or two sessions  the therapist should be able to tell you what type of treatment is  recommended  what is the  treatment plan for you. If the therapist thinks you might benefit from medication, he may recommend that you also meet with a psychiatrist or doctor.
If you don’t see any changes your therapist  may be able to try another approach to therapy or refer you for other kinds of treatment. Or you might benefit from seeing someone else. You may need to see more than one therapist to find the type of therapy that’s right for you.
It is very hard to cope with the treatment as there may be some hard questions to deal with your depression. It is not   always easy and can be painful as you work through difficult problems. But if you stick with it, talk therapy can also be gratifying and rewarding — and can give you the tools you need to help ease your depression.
