According to a research finding of 2008 a streaming and flavorful cup of cocoa can help functioning blood vessels better and can play an important role in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. The results of this finding are published in Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC). Diabetic patients who drank cocoa milk for one month showed blood vessel function from severely impaired to normal. This research does not encourage diabetics to eat more chocolate but about the healthy chocolate -flavanols. Flavanols which are natural plant compounds are also found in tea,red wine and many fruits. These flavanols present in cocoa are responsible for its healthful benefits. Dr Malte Kelm, M.D., a professor and chairman of cardiology, pulmonology and vascular medicine at the University Hospital Aachen and the Technical University Aachen, in Aachen, Germany, however, cautioned that diabetics should not start drinking cocoa greedily but
the message is that dietary flavanols hold promise to prevent heart disease.
